Trees for Survival Planting Out Day

On Thursday 7th June Mr Barrett took a selected group of students throughout for the annual planting out day. After raising many small seedlings, the students spend the day out planting in their local community at the Smith Family farm. The planting day itself is a fantastic occasion and over 500 trees were planted on the farm in a day, this year the challenge was the extreme slope. Once the planting was finished, the students cleaned up and are treated to some very tasty sausages cooked by our hosts and the parents enjoyed a much deserved cup of tea and lunch. The students also got to see previous TFS plantings by in the upper parts of the valley.  The pupils were spell bound and interested in it all. Owairoa Primary would like to thank all the parents that came to help and the continuing support from Mr and Mrs Small who volunteer their time to spend with the children and look after the shade house back at school.

What a great job you all did! I bet you were all sore and tired afterwards!
